Some music written using other ideas available for pitch tuning other than the standard tempered system currently accepted as the norm. Some require a fretless instrument, such as an oud, to perform. Others were created using manipulated methods on various guitars; extra movable bridges, alternative tunings, etc. Inevitably some experimentation will be necessary to realize some of these compositions in your own situation. There are always some limitations that prevent a "perfect" realization, but nonetheless the making of music is always possible.
Inspiration is drawn from Ottoman makam, ancient Greek music theorists, such as Aristoxenus, and Indonesian gamelon music.

Gamelon Degung & Leap Year are works based off of Indonesian Gamelon music. They were written for adapted guitar using 2 metal bottle neck slides as movable bridges, inserted under the strings and onto the neck of the instrument. The guitar is played lying down on the lap like a Japanese Koto. Each string represents only one pitch, so these pieces are essentially pentatonic scales. There are suggestions in the music for which fret the movable bridges should sit. You may find that you have to place them differently than is suggested depending on the instrument you are using. It is certainly possible to play this piece without such radical bridge placement.
These pieces were composed on classical / acoustic guitar using a tuning derived from an ancient Greek scale. Each string is tuned specifically to a certain pitch. These two pieces were written using a loose improvised form that I refer to as a "mobile", simply play each section in various orders as seems fit and repeat as desired.
The following pieces were all composed on the oud, which is a fretless instrument. Memonic Hymm utilizes a Greek mode. The Pesrev & Saz Samai were composed using traditional Ottoman makam and forms. They could perhaps be played on guitar, but some pitch nuance would be lost.
